Psychiatric camps for jail inmates

Custody is a difficult environment for the mind. Working only with prison authorities and qualified professionals, these camps aim to support mental well-being, reflection and the possibility of rehabilitation.

01

Who the programme seeks to support

Inmates experience separation from family, uncertainty about the future, loss of routine and, frequently, mental-health conditions that went unaddressed long before custody.

We approach this work without judgement. People in custody remain people, and access to mental-health support is part of the dignity owed to them.

How a camp is organised

Nothing in this programme happens outside institutional authorisation.

  • Formal permission and coordination with the prison administration
  • Sessions conducted by qualified psychiatrists, psychologists and counsellors
  • Individual consultations in a private, confidential setting
  • Group sessions on stress, sleep, anger, empathy and coping, where approved
  • Clinical recommendations shared only through authorised institutional channels
  • Follow-up sessions where the administration allows continuity

Clinical and institutional responsibility

All assessment, diagnosis and treatment recommendations are made by qualified mental-health professionals, within the rules of the authorised institution. The foundation coordinates the camp and does not access or retain clinical records.
