Volunteering

A few hours, used well, changes a street

Volunteers make our feeding rounds, drives and camps possible. You do not need a background in animal welfare or healthcare — only reliability and a willingness to be briefed.

Where volunteers help

Roles we can usually offer

Availability varies by city and by week, so the closest match depends on where you are based.

Feeding rounds

Accompany a regular route, help carry and portion food, keep the spot clean, and note anything that needs follow-up such as an injury or a new litter.

Camp logistics

Registration desk, queue management, guiding attendees between stations, and helping the medical team keep the day moving calmly.

Drive coordination

Support sterilisation and vaccination drives with scheduling, transport coordination, records and post-procedure follow-up reminders.

Documentation

Photograph and write up field activity respectfully, with consent, so the work can be reported honestly to supporters.

Outreach

Speak with residents, RWAs, schools and shopkeepers about responsible feeding, sterilisation and coexistence with street animals.

Remote support

Help from home with research, translation, design, spreadsheets, donor communication and social media if you cannot travel.

Safety and conduct

What we expect, and what you can expect from us

Street animals can be frightened and unpredictable, and camp attendees are often unwell and anxious. Both situations call for calm, patience and clear boundaries.

Volunteers are not asked to catch or restrain animals, administer medication, or handle medical records. If any task feels unsafe or beyond your comfort, step back and tell the coordinator.

  • Attend the short briefing before your first field visit
  • Follow the coordinator's instructions on site at all times
  • Treat animals, attendees, families and staff with dignity
  • Ask before photographing anyone, and never share patient details
  • Report any bite, scratch or injury immediately so it can be treated
  • Leave clinical decisions to registered veterinarians and doctors

Volunteers at a community camp

    Questions

    Frequently asked

Do I need experience with animals or medical work?

No. Most volunteering tasks are logistical and community-facing. You will always be paired with an experienced team member on a first visit, and clinical tasks are handled only by qualified professionals.

How much time do I need to commit?

There is no minimum. Some volunteers join one drive a month, others help weekly. Tell us your realistic availability and we will match you to something that fits.

    Is there an age requirement?

Volunteers under 18 are welcome at awareness and camp-support activities with a parent or guardian's written consent, and are not assigned animal-handling or clinical-area tasks.

    Will I get a certificate?

We can provide a letter confirming the activity and hours you actually contributed, once you have completed a few sessions with the team.
